Tim Openshaw
Tim Openshaw has 18 years’ experience in Higher Education management and is currently the Assistant Vice-Chancellor at the University of Bolton responsible for Strategic Planning and the Student Experience.
His work over this period has been within institutions that aim to raise aspiration and promote social mobility through education, also including Birmingham City University and the University for the Creative Arts. He has held a variety of senior management positions that have helped to shape the institution’s future strategic direction, to enhance the offer to students and to secure market growth.
With a background as a mathematician and chartered engineer, he began his career in the private sector, spending 14 years at British Aerospace where he worked in several roles encompassing engineering, international marketing, HR and corporate change.
He is both analytical and is committed to building relationships; he values people’s contribution, securing equity of opportunity, and realising the transformative power that education can bring to individuals and society.
